Dr. Johns K Mangalam

In 2004, on these very hills of Poomala, Dr. Johns founded Punarjjany — one of Kerala's pioneering centres for de-addiction and recovery. Over nearly two decades, his work touched more than a lakh and a half lives.

Those who knew him remember the same things: he listened without judgement, he believed in second chances when no one else did, and he treated every person who walked through his doors with dignity. That was his medicine, as much as anything else.

Sooraj grew up close to his father's work, and then went out into the world — an engineering degree, a master's in the United Kingdom, and a career across India, Qatar and the UK in hospitality, healthcare management and business.

He could have stayed anywhere. He came back to Poomala.

The Shore Wellness is his own creation — an independent vision, built to a standard he felt this field had been waiting for: seven private suites, complete discretion, world-class medicine alongside Kerala's healing traditions, and family cared for as carefully as the guest. It carries his father's values. It carries his own ambition. It answers to nothing but the wellbeing of the guests it serves.
